Experiences of other exchange students
YFU YEAR IN ESTONIA 2008-2009, MUSIC PROGRAM
What country would be a better choice in Europe than Estonia, if you want to study music? No country, I guess. When I decided to go on an exchange year to study music, I did some research about the countries where the music program was available. After one day already, I was sure about Estonia. The fact that they all sung together when they where freed from Russia, had such an impact on me, that I just had to go to Estonia.
Not one second, have I regret my choice. My music school, Heino Elleri Nimeline Tartu Muusikakool, was just great. We had a lot of free time to practice, and of course it’s sometimes hard so to be hours and hours a day lonely in a classroom to practice your skills, but it’s so nice that you can also play together with friends the kind of music you want to play. I have also good memories of our concerts in Vanemuine, our concert tour in Finland. Beside playing music in school, I also enjoyed playing with my friends on the street, playing little concerts. My greatest memory is the concert on Saaremaa I did with my friends, in the big castle.
Everyone who loves music and isn’t scared of playing all day, this will be your most fantastic year.
